Student Council works alongside Tescos to donate to The Hope Centre !!

16th May 2023

Our wonderful student council team have worked so hard this year to raise money for special charities across Derry. One charity that we wanted to support was The Hope Centre. This orgainsation has been working incredibly hard donating food parcels throughout the city, and beyond, since November 2019!

To help this organisation further, our pupils decided to work alongside Tescos. We took part in a programme called 'Renew' which is run by The Hope Centre. The children were provided with £5.00 each and had to choose how best to spend it in the store. They definitely had a challenge on their hands!! Here, they had to choose which products were better in price and which would keep for longer. When the children were happy with their groceries they took them to the tills and boxed them. The overall receipt was so long we couldn't believe our eyes!!

Our help didn't stop there!! We then visited The Hope Centre in the afternoon. This was a fantastic experience!! We were informed on how the organisation caters for those in need. We were also shown their 'social supermarket' where we got to shelf the groceries we bought. We then visited the clothing bank and were very surprised to see how big it was!

Thank you so much to our friends at Tescos Lisnagelvin and The Hope Centre for all that you have taught us. A special thanks to our amazing parents who met us at Tescos and joined in with the fun. We had the best time!!!

Take a look at our videos and photos below :)! We hope you enjoy!!

Kindest regards,
