School Council: A Day of Inspiration at the Guildhall! 🏛️✨

23rd Mar 2026
Our School Council from P1 to P7 had an unforgettable morning after being invited to the Mayor’s Parlour! The boys and girls were truly treated like kings and queens, enjoying all the delicious treats provided while discussing the importance of student leadership.

The children did Chapel Road PS proud, chatting with Mayor Ruairí McHugh about how they were elected to our council. They especially loved learning about the history and symbols on the Mayor’s Chain, and they shared stories of all the fundraising they’ve done this year to help those in need. ❤️🤝

A huge thank you to Emmett, who looked after us so well in the Mayor's Parlour, and to Ray, who provided a most informative and interesting tour of the Guildhall. It was fascinating to see the Council Chambers and the many artefacts on display—seeing the John Hume collection was a highlight! 📜

To celebrate their hard work this year, the group enjoyed a well-deserved McDonald’s treat afterwards! 🍟 A big thank you also to Mr Mc Ginty, who surprised everyone with a delicious ice cream treat to finish the day! 🍦

We were beaming with pride to hear our students complimented multiple times for their impeccable manners—they were wonderful ambassadors for our school.
Well done to our School Council! You are incredible! 🌟👏
