Let’s Get Growing in P1 🌿

26th Mar 2022

Primary 1 have loved their new topic Let’s Get Growing! We have been learning all about plants and what they need to grow. First we went outside to enjoy the sunshine ☀️ and go on a plant hunt around our amazing school grounds! We got a letter from Billy the Bee asking us to plant some seeds to grow flowers. We followed the instructions he gave us to plant sunflowers, nasturtiums, cosmos and sweet peas. We have been watering them every day and putting them in the sunlight and we can’t wait until they start to grow! We looked at Van Gogh’s sunflowers and painted our own. We can’t wait to put them together in a big class bunch! 🌻🌺🌸🌼 Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk has also been to visit, leaving us some clues…magic beans, a cow, a golden egg and harp. We loved listening to the story and doing a book review. We also read Japer’s Beanstalk and compared the two stories. In our play area, we have loved exploring our garden centre. In Maths we measured each other to find out who is the tallest and shortest in our class. We also measured things around our play area. In ICT we loved using our new lowercase keyboard to type sentences about what we would like to be when we grow up and finding pictures to match.
